Fire problems forced restricted use of new army trucks

Two of the army's new trucks caught fire in Pembroke, Ont. and at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa last year, prompting fleet-wide restrictions on how the vehicles were to be used, soldiers have told the Ottawa Citizen. But the army says all 1,300 trucks, purchased in a $274-million deal, have now been upgraded to deal with the electrical problems that are thought to have caused the fires.
