Thai army chief rules out coup, vows to protect palace

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's army chief sought to allay fears of a coup d'etat Thursday on the eve of a tense July 3 election, but warned the military would continue to suppress moves to drag the country's revered monarchy into a polarizing political conflict.
