War Horse is based on the children's book by the same name by Michael Morpurgo and subsequent 2007 stage adaptation of Joey, a horse who's raised and trained by Albert to plough the fields and help keep the family farm. One day Albert's father sells the horse out of necessity to a soldier when World War I is declared. Joey and Albert have to leave each other because Albert is not 19 and he can't join the war and fight. Since then the experience of Joey in the deadly chaos of the First World War begins... Spielberg's films always touch our hearts in some or the other way. Also, War Horse is a great film with wonderful themes such as resilience, courage, love and compassion. In this film, the background is war and apathy, but, in that same situation love and friendship grows. I was moved by Albert's promise to find Joey: "Wherever you are, I will find you and I will bring you home". And he finally finds Joey in No Man's Land. One of the ending scenes is Albert riding Joey on the way home at peaceful nightfall, with the theme music The Reunion. The tale ends safely and soundly.
